A branding session is more than just headshots—it’s a chance to visually tell a story, build connection, and bring a brand to life. Whether it's for a creative entrepreneur, small business owner, or someone launching something new, a branding session helps capture the heart of what they do and who they are. Here's what clients can expect when booking a session!

It All Starts with a Plan

Before the camera ever comes out, there's a conversation. I'll get to know you, your brand, your personality, and all of the goals of what you need from these photos. Together, we'll discuss how the photos will be used—on websites, social media, print materials—and the kind of message the visuals should communicate. It’s relaxed, collaborative, and sets the tone for a purposeful shoot. I may be the photographer, but these photos will belong to you and your business, so It's Important to me that we collaborate closely to make sure we capture everything your business needs!

Choosing the Right Location

The setting matters. Whether it’s a bright studio, a favorite coffee shop, a cozy workspace, or the colorful streets of downtown Charleston, the location plays a big role in telling a client’s story. I help guide this decision to make sure every detail supports the brand’s overall look and feel. Take a look at this branding session captured right in the heart of downtown Charleston! We'll select which location ( or multiple locations!) will work the best for the story of your Images.

Wardrobe That Reflects the Brand

Most clients bring two to three different outfits! The key is choosing pieces that feel authentic and align with your brand vibe—whether that's clean and minimal, bold and creative, or relaxed and approachable. Layers, accessories, and even a few on-brand props can elevate the session and create variety in the final gallery. Check out this session where the client brought multiple outfits to showcase a mix of energy and ease, while still keeping things polished and professional! Don't stress about finding the exact right outfit alone though, we'll chat all about the colors and style for your wardrobe options that will make sure the story we want to tell will be clear! ( and heads up, I don't think blazers=professionalism. We'll get you the right look to really convey your brand!

A Mix of Posed and Candid Moments

Branding sessions are designed to capture a range of images. Yes, there are polished, professional portraits perfect for LinkedIn or a website’s “About” page—but there are also candid, behind-the-scenes moments that showcase the client doing what they love. This balance is what makes branding photos feel genuine and more engaging.

A Laid-Back, Enjoyable Experience

Even for those who feel a little awkward in front of the camera, a good photographer knows how to keep things relaxed. With plenty of guidance, encouragement, and maybe even a little music, the session feels more like a fun afternoon than a photoshoot! Clients often walk away feeling more confident and excited to share their brand with the world.

Bonus: It’s a Tax Write-Off!!

One of the best parts? Branding sessions are considered a business expense, which means they’re a tax write-off. Investing in professional photography isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s a smart business move too. This article posted online by a tax and accounting expert explains exactly how a photo session is a tax write-off for your business!

For anyone ready to take their brand visuals to the next level, a branding session offers the perfect mix of creativity, strategy, and fun. It’s more than just photos—it’s a way to show up with confidence, connect with an audience, and stand out in a crowded digital world.
