Charleston Fall Mini Sessions 2026 | Family Photos + Black & White Expressions Sessions
If you’ve been searching for Charleston mini sessions for fall 2026, I’ve got four opportunities coming up to get some new photos on your walls, in your holiday cards, or finally replace that family photo where one of your kids was still missing their front teeth. (Unless they’re missing them now, in which case PLEASE let me photograph that.)
This fall I’m offering two different kinds of mini photo sessions in Charleston: my classic Fall Family Mini Sessions and my black and white Expression Sessions for kids.
They’re very different kinds of sessions, so let’s figure out which one is right for you.
Fall Family Mini Sessions in Charleston, SC
My Charleston Fall Family Mini Sessions are short, easy family photo sessions designed for families who want updated photos without committing to a full session.
And when I say “family photos,” I do NOT mean 20 minutes of me asking everyone to stand still and smile at my camera.
We’ll move. We’ll play. I’ll get your kids laughing. I’ll let them be weird. 😂 And somewhere in all of that, I’ll also sneak in those classic everyone-looking-at-the-camera photos that Grandma wants for her frame.
These sessions are especially great if your family has photographed with me before and you just need an update, if your kids are at an age where 20 minutes feels like PLENTY, or if you want beautiful fall family photos for holiday cards and gifts without scheduling a full storytelling session.

Each Fall Family Mini Session is 20 minutes and $350, and includes 3 digital images of your choice with the option to purchase additional images after you receive your gallery.
Black & White Expression Sessions for Kids
If you’re less interested in updating the family photo and more interested in documenting exactly who your kid is at this particular moment, this one is for you.
My Expression Sessions are black and white personality portraits of individual children.
Simple black backdrop. No elaborate setup. No coordinating outfits for the whole family. And absolutely no requirement that your kid sit perfectly still and give me their “nice smile.”
Actually, I don't really want their nice smile.
I want the giant laugh. The missing teeth. The scrunched-up nose. The serious face. The smirk. The wild hair. The expression they make that you recognize immediately because you see it approximately 47 times a day.
These sessions are about stripping everything else away and letting your kid's personality be the entire photograph.
Because five or ten years from now, I want you to look at these photos and immediately think:
“Oh my gosh. That was SO them.”

Which Charleston Mini Session Is Right for You?
If you want updated photos of your whole family, especially something you can use for holiday cards, gifts and frames around your home, choose a Fall Family Mini Session.
If you want portraits that are completely focused on your individual child's personality, choose an Expression Session.
And yes, you are absolutely allowed to decide you need both. 😂
What Should We Wear for Fall Family Photos?
Once your session is booked, one of the first questions is usually, “Okay...now what are we all going to wear?”
You do NOT need to show up in matching outfits. In fact, please don't.
Instead, think about coordinating colors, adding some texture and making sure everyone still looks and feels like themselves. I've put together more advice to help you choose outfits that photograph beautifully without turning the process into another item on your fall mental-load list.
If you're booking an Expression Session, I also have specific recommendations for clothing that photographs well against the black backdrop and converts beautifully to black and white.
Looking for a Full Family Photo Session in Charleston?
Mini sessions are wonderful, but they aren't the right fit for every family.
A full family session gives us more time to settle in, move around, explore your location and create a much larger variety of photographs. They're especially helpful for families who want their session to feel more like documenting a season of life than simply updating the family photo.
