This past spring I had the very best time getting to be a part of the coolest event for expecting Moms, the Charleston Baby Shower organized and hosted by the amazing Katie from Charleston Working Moms. Katie throws the very best events and this one was no different!

You know what really matters to me? That you feel comfortable, included, welcome, and respected. This isn’t just a nice idea—it’s something I actively think about at every single photo session. Over time, I’ve had to train myself to slow down during shoots so I can create space for all of those feelings to be present.

Let’s talk black and white photos—because I love them, and I get questions about them all the time. “Do I get a black and white version of every image in my gallery?” Short answer: Nope. Long answer: Because black and white images deserve more intention than just slapping a filter on top.

There’s something so special about photographing a family welcoming a brand new baby into the world — and this relaxed newborn session in Charleston, SC was pure magic.
